About The Bus Stop Over ..
The Bus Stop Over VW Event is now in its 13th Year & firmly established on the VW Show Calendar.
The early shows were held at the extremely agricultural venue of Turnpost Farm, Wymeswold, Leicestershire where it steadily grew over time. The awful spring/summer of 2012 saw the sad cancellation of the event as like many others that season the atrocious weather turned the fields into mud. This was an extremely distressing time for Steve & Andrew at the time & major changes were made as a result.
2013 saw a new partner in Lee, with Steve leaving the event organising to concentrate on his very successful restoration business Johnson Autoworks. We needed a weather proof venue to get us back on our feet & moved 30 miles up the road to Uttoxeter Racecourse, Staffordshire.
Tickets on sale this week!! ..Please call back !
After 2 years at Uttoxeter we moved venue to Newark Showground in 2015 & the venue & event was a huge success.
The Bus Stop Over is owned & operated by The Bus Stop Over Ltd. Company Number 7545172, Directors Mr Andrew Fowler & Mr Lee Perry.
Bio - Andrew Fowler Email: Andrew@busstopover.co.uk
Andrew formed vwcurtains.com in 2000 after coming back to VW's after a 10 year break. He bought a T25 & got his old gran to knock up some curtains & cushions. Spotting a gap in the market, now copied many times!, vwcurtains grew over the next 10 years, employing 3 staff, operated by Andrew's wife Kay. The Silent Gliss side of the business continued to expand much to our surprise & became our sole focus in 2011 when we sold the manufacturing side of the business to Burts Bus Emporium. In 2013 Burt's bought the remainding parts of vwcurtains from us & now operate from a great camper themed store in Woolacombe, Devon.
In 2004 Andrew traded at the very first Bus Stop Over in Wymeswold run by his good friends Steve & Mark from Johnson Autoworks. For those who went it was real grass routes event, in a farmers field with a few hundred visitors enjoying themselves in a ratty marquee for a night. Mark emigrated to New Zealand that year so I joined Steve as part owner that year & have run the event ever since.
Andrew has owned a 1970 1500 Beetle, 3 golfs, 2 bays, a split panel van, 5 T25's including a Karmann Gipsy, LT35, T25 Doka, Porsche 911, 914 & Boxster, a 1984 Vespa P200E, a T5 & has appeared in a number of VW Books including his wedding.
Aside from running the Stop Over Shows, Andrew is a Practice Manager at Oracle Consulting & is a qualified FA Football Coach of an Under 10's Team.
Bio - Lee Perry Email: Lee@busstopover.co.uk
Lee was involved in The Bus Stop Over from the very first show & became more prominent on the mic & taking over booking our great line up of bands in 2010. In 2012 Lee became a partner in the show taking over from Steve Johnson.
Lee, with his son Arron, run a vehicle recovery & restoration business in Derby. They are also well known for their crazy customised creations seen at shows plus some amazing barn finds & classics.
